What is ORCID?

ORCID is an open, non-profit, community-based effort to provide a registry of unique researcher identifiers and a transparent method of linking research activities and outputs to these identifiers. ORCID is unique in its ability to reach across disciplines, research sectors, and national boundaries and its cooperation with other identifier systems. An ORCID iD is an alphanumeric code that uniquely identifies an academic author. It is a 16-digit code, in the format: 0000-0000-0000-0000.

EDP Sciences has integrated ORCID into SAGA in several ways, including the use of the ORCID iD as a solution to login in. This means that when your ORCID iD is associated to SAGA, you can use it to connect directly. It is a simple way to avoid many different usernames and passwords. You have also the possibility to add your ORCID number and those of your co-author in the metadata of your article via Saga, these data will be used to update automatically the ORCID accounts with the new articles once they are published.

Registered on ORCID already?

If you have registered with ORCID, you may associate this with your existing SAGA account. Enter your usual Saga login and password and go to your account details. When you click “Create or Connect your ORCID iD” you will be taken to the ORCID site to sign in (you will need your ORCID username and password.) Then click the link to agree to attach your ORCID details to your SAGA account. Next time you will log in directly by clicking “log in with your ORCID iD” on the SAGA home page.
